What is Frame Rate (FPS)?

The frequency (rate) at which consecutive images (frames) appear on a display, measured in frames per second (fps).

What is it?

Frame rate is simply how many still images are shown every second to create the illusion of motion. Common standards are 24fps (movies), 30fps (TV/YouTube), and 60fps (gaming/smooth motion).

Why it matters

Frame rate sets the 'feel' of your video. 24fps looks cinematic and dreamy. 60fps looks hyper-realistic and smooth. Choosing the wrong one can make your video look unnatural.

How to use it

For talking head videos or tutorials, 30fps is the standard. If you're recording gameplay or want to do slow-motion later, shoot in 60fps or higher.
